De asemenea, filmul Poor Things se bucură de un succes remarcabil cu 11 nominalizări, iar Killers of the Flower Moon se distinge, de asemenea, cu 10 nominalizări. Un moment istoric pentru acest an este reprezentat de faptul că, în premieră, filmele a trei regizoare au fost nominalizate pentru categoria „Cel mai bun film”, marcând un pas semnificativ în atingerea obiectivului diversității și în recunoașterea talentului feminin în industria cinematografică.
Nominalizările corespunzătoare celei de-a 96-a ediții a Oscarurilor au fost anunțate marți, 23 ianuarie, de la ora 3.30 p.m. a României, din Beverly Hills, California, începându-se, astfel, numărătoarea inversă pentru cea mai așteptată noapte a anului de la Hollywood. A 96-a ediție a Oscarurilor va avea loc la Teatrul Dolby pe 10 martie, iar spectacolul va fi transmis pe ABC.
În cadrul evenimentului din acest an, Jimmy Kimmel va avea onoarea de a fi gazda pentru a doua oară consecutiv. Va fi a patra oară când Kimmel prezintă ceremonia de decernare a Oscarurilor.
