Eddie Muntz (Chevy Chase), un traficant de arme urmeaza sa incheie cea mai importanta tranzactie a vietii sale si sa furnizeze o importanta cantitate de arme unui draconic dictator sud-american care intentioneaza sa declanseze un razboi de proportii. Pentru asta, iubita sa Catherine DeVoto (Sigourney Weaver) trebuie sa-l seduca pe dictator, iar prietenul sau Ray Kasternak (Gregory Hines) trebuie sa mai ucida o data.
