Sinopsis

Kay Thordyke (Angela Lansbury) il iubeste pe Grant Matthews (Specer Tracy) si il ajuta sa fie nominalizat la functia de presedinte din partea Partidului Republican. Masina de partid incepe sa se ingrijoreze atunci cand Grant incepe sa vorbeasca in numele lui. La un important dineu, sotia sa Mary (Katharine Hepburn) condamna politicienii corupti, iar cuvantarile lui Grant devin tot mai indraznete.
