Parodia americană i-a oferit lui Douglas Fairbanks destul material inedit pentru a produce suprarealistul When the Clouds Roll by (1919).Cabinetul doctorului Caligari (1919) a influenţat sensibilitatea americană a anilor '20 (Beggar on Horseback, 1925, The Life and Death of 9413, a Hollywood Extra, 1928 şi The Telltale Heart, 1928). Pe de altă parte, pe (atunci) amatorii J.S.
