James Whale (n. 22 iulie 1889 - d. 29 mai 1957) a fost un director de film, director de teatru si actor. Acesta este cunoscut pentru cele 4 filme horror clasice: Frankenstein, The Old Dark House, The Invisible Man si Bride of Frankenstein. Whale a regizat și filme de alte genuri: Show Boat, Waterloo Bridge, The Man in the Iron Mask.
