RotK EE Rumored "longer than 4 hours and 50 min"

Nothing clear yet on the release date, let alone the disc specs for the third installment of The Lord of the Rings, however since both previous films had Extended Editions released on DVD it is fair to assume this will happen again, especially after it is rumoured Peter Jackson said the following at the Copenhagen premiere. Basically he commented that the first cut of Return of the King had a running time of four hours and fifty minutes. When asked why this was too long for theatres but acceptable for DVD, he said:

"It is different with the DVD version. People watch it at home. They can lay on the couch or spread the experience over two or three nights. That is the amazing thing with DVD. It gives a whole new dynamic and I can assure you that the DVD version of Return of the King will be longer than 4 hours and 50 min."

Unless any of our Danish readers have can confirm this then it is still rumour, however if true, this really is interesting news.

My note: Also note that Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) appeared on Jonathan Ross Friday night, and he said that the Extended Edition would be over five hours long.

Pur si simplu` filmu` asta ma fascinat...ii ceva incredibil...ceva de necrezut...3 ore cat stay la cinema parka patrunzi in lumea incredibila a lui Frodo & Co.

Chiar azi ma duk inca o data la cinema...maine la fel...NU MA MAI SATUR!!!Trebuie` neaparat sa`mi fak rost de varianta extended...TLD de unde ai fakut rost?Trimite`mi un mesaj privat PLZ!!! 8)

Da m-am descurcat cu cd-urile numai k ma enerveaza ca nu pot copia cd2 de la FOTR in calculator .....

The epic fantasy is outpacing both its predecessors and should reach $1 billion, said Rolf Mittweg, president of worldwide marketing and distribution at New Line Cinema. New Line is a unit of Time Warner Inc., as is CNN.com.

The new film's foreign haul of $268.4 million includes $48 million from Britain, $45 million from Germany and $30 million from France. The film opened on Friday in Australia, and has already pulled in $8.7 million.

"With the release of each film, the emotional resonance and dramatic impact have only increased," Mittweg said.

Despite its success, the film has a long way to go before unseating all-time champ "Titanic," which grossed about $1.8 billion worldwide. The first film in the "Rings" series, "The Fellowship of the Ring" earned $865 million worldwide.

In North America, "The Return of the King" combined with four new releases, led by the Steve Martin comedy "Cheaper by the Dozen," to drive ticket sales to a record high for the Christmas weekend.

No problemos...dar era mai mishto daca era la Arta, cum ai zis tu. Cinematograful ala e mai mic, mai vechi, mai creepy sjhi pe o strada ingusta, fara lumina...creaza atmosfera...bine ca te shi congelezi 3 ore la film, dar orice pentru LOTR!
