She was a tenement girl from Aberdeen, who’d managed to claw her way out of what was obviously quite a hard upbringing, He was the kind of Wearside Durham Jack the Lad who was something of a musical prodigy. Annie studied the flute at the Royal Academy of Music but had to work as a waitress to get by. It was at her workplace that she was introduced to Dave Stewart through a mutual friend. They would soon form their first band, The Tourists The Tourists disbanded after legal issues between Pete Coombes and the label. It freed Annie and Dave, who wanted to expand their creativity further. Together they formed the Eurythmics and released their debut album, In the Garden. In the Garden achieved little commercial success and the duo chose to retreat to a small home studio in London’s Chalk Farm, where they were free to develop a new sound They began to work with synthesisers, a choice that would lead them to their breakthrough hit, Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This. The success of the single led to a re-release of Love is a Stranger. The band, now big on both sides of the Atlantic, had another hit on their hands. The band quickly worked on their follow-up album, Touch. It would become their first number one in the UK and produced a succession of hit singles. Touch also saw them experiment with even more musical styles Featuring archive material, music videos Who’s That Girl, Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) and, exclusive insights from music critics and journalists Michael Bonner (Uncut Magazine), Hamish MacBain (Shortlist), John Aizlewood (Evening Standard) Rock Legends Eurythmics tells the story of one of Britain’s enduring rock bands.

The Grateful Dead - Classic Albums: Anthem To Beauty - The Grateful Dead
This installment of the Classic Albums series follows the making of two Grateful Dead albums, the fiercely experimental Anthem of the Sun and the understated masterwork American Beauty, which spawned melodic gems like "Sugar Magnolia" and "Ripple." Between the archival scenes and contemporary interviews with band members, the program shows a band making seismic in roads in pop music and five young guys coming to terms with artistry, mortality, and, yes, the pursuit of happiness. There is priceless footage of Neal Cassady driving Ken Kesey's bus and of the Dead, surrounded by martini sipping hipsters, on Playboy After Dark. The best scenes involve band members talking about specific songs (you will never hear Phil Lesh's "Box of Rain" again without thinking of it as a gift to his dying father) or deconstructing a tune by playing each track separately. Intimate and surprisingly cohesive, Anthem to Beauty is a rare glimpse into how the Dead's magic was made.

Being from the rain-ridden lands of England, Foals are used to a different kind of festival environment: generally speaking, frontman Yannis Philippakis described them as "mud and wellies" ordeals. So we're sure they were quite pleased to travel halfway around the world to the California desert to perform for Coachella's music-hungry crowds. Prior to taking to the stage in Indio, however, Foals made a pit stop at our little poolside bungalow to perform a Festival Fever Session featuring songs off their highly-acclaimed, recent full-length Holy Fire. While you might have already seen the band's in-the-flesh transformation of "My Number" into a slow-burning beaut, we've expanded the session to include the subtle closer "Moon".

The Strokes - Live at Landmark Music Festival - The Strokes
And as with other hugely successful rock bands, it was the lead singer who was in charge of pumping up the crowd, with Julian Casablancas yelling things like “D.C., let’s rock!” and “What’s up, D.C.?!” The crowd went wild, but to Casablancas, it was clearly a joke. He was playing a role and said as much outright at the beginning of the show, but that didn’t stop the crowd, hungry for more entertainment, from taking him seriously.

Passenger - Live at Baeble HQ - Passenger
Mike Rosenberg's crafted some of the very best observational songwriting of the year with his lovely new album, All the Little Lights. It's a lush, acoustic collection he's complemented with the perfect epithet in Passenger. "The lyrics and the stories," explains the young, Brighton-born-and-bred musician, "are told from the perspective of a passenger just watching the world go by." For his stirring session in our music room, Mike spun tales of a lonely afternoon on a riverbank in Glasgow Scotland ("Feather On the Clyde"), the hard appreciation that spawns only in the wake of personal loss ("Let Her Go") and a reminder that the present moment is everything ("Life's for the Living"). It's an emotional performance; a journey you'll be grateful to be a passenger aboard.

Ozzy Osbourne - God Bless Ozzy Osbourne - Ozzy Osbourne
Ozzy Osbourne is one of the most iconic figures in rock and one of the founding fathers of heavy metal. "God Bless Ozzy Osbourne" tells for the first time the story of his career from the founding of Black Sabbath through to solo stardom and his wider fame beyond. These were the wild days of his prodigious drug and alcohol intake, of biting the head from a dove at a record company meeting and biting into a bat on stage but also of the tragic death of Randy Rhoads and the reality TV show The Osbournes. The film follows Ozzy's torturous and emotionally fraught journey from excess to sobriety, which Ozzy regards as his greatest accomplishment. Featuring never before seen footage, new interviews with Ozzy himself, his family, his bandmates, and those who both inspired him and were inspired by him, this is the first film to take viewers inside the mind and psyche of this legendary figure.

Jake Bugg - Live at Hype Machine's Hype Hotel - Jake Bugg
Nineteen-year-old British singer-songwriter Jake Bugg is a man of few words, that is until he begins his strumming. His unique voice is one that finds few, yet highly admirable comparisons - perhaps a rockabilly-folk twangy twist of The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle and Colin Meloy of the Decemberists. The release of his self-titled, full-length debut last October sent a sonic shockwave through the music world with songs like the feverishly hooking foot-pounder "Lightning Bolt" and the howling 60s rock sing-along "Two Fingers". Jake took the stage late one evening at Hype Machine's Hype Hotel, where he roared through his catalog of catchy hits for an rock-hungry crowd. And we were there to catch the solid solo kid in action.
