What to do with our dead? Burn them? Bury them? Make them disappear? Keep them within easy reach? We're 70km from Barcelona, behind Montserrat. Here, as all over Spain, we don't bury the dead, we pile them up in niches and superimposed vaults. The new Igualada cemetery, for example, will be the work of two Catalan architects at the very start of their careers, Enric Miralles and Carme Pinos. The project is surprising because it blends into the landscape. The land is hollowed out, inhabited by strange alignments of oblique concrete walls, covered with earth and planted. Is it a building? Or rather a place? A place enriched by the very fact that it's not finished? A strong link between twentieth-century architecture and landscape, between Le Corbusier and Richard Long.

The Impressionists are the most popular group in art history - millions flock every year to marvel at their masterpieces. Impressionism was born and the art world was changed forever. What led to that first groundbreaking show 150 years ago? Who were the maverick personalities that wielded their brushes in such a radical and provocative way? The spectacular Musée d’Orsay exhibition brings fresh eyes to this extraordinary tale of passion and rebellion. The story is told not by historians and curators but in the words of those who witnessed the dawn of Impressionism: the artists, press and people of Paris, 1874. - Caravaggio, Stories Of St. Matthew
The story of “The Calling of Saint Matthew” begins on a hot summer day in Rome in 1600, the Jubilee Year. The entire Eternal City is a construction site: streets are full of scaffolding, dust clouds, loose cobblestones, the continuous banging of hammers and rasping of saws, carpenters with Lombard accents, errand boys shouting across the streets in Roman dialect, stevedores unloading barrels and crates from boats along the Tiber. The narrow streets in the town center are full of jostling tourists and monsignors rushing to get somewhere, and every once in a while the crowd parts to let a sedan chair or carriage of a cardinal through. Convent bells ring, droves of pilgrims mass along the routes connecting the old basilicas, reciting the rosary as they go. Not a day goes by without the opening of a new church, an oratory, or a chapel. Fascinated by this hubbub, dozens of artists from every nation roam the classical ruins and new palaces in the heat and dust (!) drawing everything they see

Cosmos, an Artist in Avignon is a poetic documentary that follows Jean-Michel Othoniel during the creation of his monumental exhibition in Avignon (2025–2026).

It is through these intimate and revealing letters that this gripping film reveals Pissarro’s life and work. Born in the West Indies, Pissarro found his passion in paint as a young man in Paris, and by the age of 43 had corralled a group of enthusiastic artists into a new collective. Their first show was scorned by the critics, but the group had acquired a new name: the Impressionists. For the next 40 years Pissarro was the driving force behind what has today become the world’s favourite artistic movement. The Ashmolean Museum has a long tradition of excellence.
