David Oistrakh, Artist of the People ? - Classical Music Documentary
David Oistrakh, Artist of the People The dramatic story of an inspired violinist, of a loyal man whose self-imposed silence eloquently betrayed unspoken private suffering. This extensive profile features interviews with David Oistrakh's longtime friends and fellow musicians: Yehudi Menuhin showing what it takes to make a great violinist; Mstislav Rostropovitch talking of Oistrakh's relationship with the Soviet regime; Gidon Kremer recalling Oistrakh as a teacher; Gennady Rozhdestvensky who conducted all the major concertos for him; and Oistrakh's son, Igor, remembering the family man. Jascha Heifetz - God's Fiddler - Classical Music Documentary
Jascha Heifetz - God's Fiddler Not since Paganini had there been such a magician on the violin, a musical ‘wunderkind’ who went on to set the standards for nearly a century. Through home movies and personal family photos taken from 1903-1987, this documentary filmed in Vilna, Lithuania, Saint Petersburg, Russia, and in Los Angeles, re-creates a life that spanned the 20th Century. We hear from all the great violinists of his generation, and from many of his former students who are still alive, that Heifetz was a legendary but mysterious figure whose story embodies the dual nature of artistic genius. Is the man and the artist the same person? What is the price each pays? And who was the man behind the music? Directed by Peter Rosen 2011

La Grande Danza - Aterballetto in Milan - Dance
La grande danza - Aterballetto in Milan Choreographies by Jiří Pokorny (Words & Space), Giuseppe Spota (Narcissus), Philippe Kratz (Phoenix) Aterballetto is the principal producing and touring dance company in Italy. They are well-known for their ability to shift their style across a wide range of musical genres, from classical to pop and jazz. Jiří Pokorny‘s ‘Words and Space’ is a metaphor of an intrapersonal speech, a book full of floating stories. It is personal, intimate, and very poetic. ‘Phoenix’ is inspired by the idea of the infinite circular motion of life: Birth, growth, immobility, death and finally birth once again. Choreographer Philippe Kratz tries to understand who we were and what we are capable to become. In ‘Narcissus’ Giuseppe Spota takes a look at the youth of today. Are they ready to come out of their virtual frames and face the mirror ofeveryday life? Or will they all end up like Narcissus, alone to admire and cherish themselves? Directed by Andreas Morell
