Fiindca "War of the Worlds"-ul lui Spielberg are maine mega-premiera mondiala (inclusiv la noi, nu cu o zi intarziere ca "Star Wars"), trebuie sa ne amintim si de adaptarea pentru radio a lui Orson Welles, astazi vazuta mai mult din punct de vedere

Unul dintre articole...

Scenariul complet (daca aveti rabdare)

Si o incheiere anecdotica... Una dintre editiile recente ale romanului "The War of the Worlds" contine o prefata scrisa de Arthur C. Clarke (vice presedinte de onoare al The H.G. Wells Society). Se povesteste despre intalnirea (istorica) dintre Welles si Wells, la un post de radio din San Antonio, in 1940... Din discutia lor se spicuieste:

H.G.: I've had a series of the most delightful experiences since I came to America, but the best thing that has happened to me so far has been meeting my little namesake here, Orson. I find him most delightful. He carries my name with an extra e, which I hope we'll drop soon. [...] I've known his work before he made this sensational Halloween spree - are you sure there was such a panic in America, or wasn't it your Halloween fun?

ORSON: I think that's the nicest thing that the man from England could possibly say about the man from Mars.

Iar finalul discutiei ar fi putut deveni antologic. Foarte relaxat, H.G. ii pune o intrebare lui Orson...

H.G.: Before we get away from this microphone, tell me about this film of yours thet you're producing... what's the film called?

ORSON: It's called Citizen Kane.
