Animators rap Disney Pixar sequel plan

LOS ANGELES, -- The Walt Disney Co.'s plan to make sequels to Pixar movies will complicate efforts to mend relations between the firms, the Los Angeles Times said Wednesday.
Disney and Pixar Animation Studios are nearing the end of a partnership that has produced such hits as "Toy Story," "Finding Nemo and "The Incredibles." Disney plans to make "Toy Story 3" without Pixar, exercising its right to make sequels to Pixar movies on its own. The Times said many
Hollywood animators see Disney's plan as an affront to the creative process. Some are calling the Disney sequel operation "Pixaren't." Tom Sito, president emeritus of Hollywood's local animation guild and a former Disney animator, said "Toy Story 3" could hinder efforts by incoming Disney CEO Robert Iger to repair relations with Pixar chief Steve Jobs. does muddy the waters for creating some sort of deal," Sito said. "Pixar has very jealously guarded the integrity of their creative properties and are loath to trust them to others who are more economy-minded. It's like somebody else taking your children to school." Jobs recently told business
