Peter Greenaway is a true artist. He masters the five senses by transmuting the mundane into a feast of colour. The five senses are his favourite theme; each frame of his movie is a canvas he paints on with such artistry.
The Pillow book is the story of Nagiko, a young woman who is passionate about Sei Shōnagon, a court lady from the 11th century and her famous diary, The Pillow Book. Nagiko is determined to write her own Pillow Book, thus expressing her love for calligraphy and poetry. Vivian Wu and Ewan McGregor (playing the part of Jerome, Nagiko's lover) are enthralling.
