Cat despre film : de pe imdb zice : A Naval veteran arrives home from war unsettled and uncertain of his future - until he is tantalized by The Cause and its charismatic leader.

PTA zice ca : " The primary influence for the film was John Huston's 1946 Documentary: Let There Be Light. Director Paul Thomas Anderson has stated that he was taking material from the film "left, right, and center ".

Let there be light - The final entry in a trilogy of films produced for the U.S. government by John Huston. This documentary film follows 75 U.S. soldiers who have sustained debilitating emotional trauma and depression. A series of scenes chronicle their entry into a psychiatric hospital, their treatment and eventual recovery.

A user review about Let there be light : Demobbed solders with mental problems are admitted to a hospital; the camera films them from their induction through to their eventual 'cure' and final departure back into mainstream America. This compelling and uplifting documentary, beautifully photographed, was banned for over 30 years.

Observ ca documentarul a servit la crearea caracterului lui Freddie. Parerea mea e ca PTA envisions a possible "cure", unul alternativ si istoric relevant. Incepand cu anii '30, societati ezoterice europene se extind si in America. Ideile culturilor asiatice patrund in mainstreamul american.
