No Maps For These Territories (2000)

Excelent in continut, cliseist si/sau inconstant in prezentare.

William Gibson (daca sunteti de-o varsta cu mine stiti despre cine vorbesc) spontan si relaxat in spatele unei limuzine, povestind despre cum s-a trait si cum se moare in ultima suta de ani, despre tehnologie, despre Cadere, despre Schimbare, despre viata ca scriere, Burroughs, amfetamine, cyberspace, religie si iubire.

Puncte mari la secventele in care Bono(!) recita din Neuromancer si Idoru, mai putine la the techno-geeky packaging in care sunt oferite informatiile - dincolo de cateva metafore valide, abundenta cliseului si short attention span syndrome.

Filmul e un graffiti superb si infricosator prin luciditate, similar cu echivalentul lui vizual care apare la un moment dat pe un zid: "Technology is the knack of arranging the world so we don't have to experience it"

Si pentru ca vreau sa va motivez sa vedeti documentarul, va las cu niste citate din film ale celui mai profund creativ, nihilist, romantic, auto-ironic si cyberpunk profet al Vestului din ultimii 50 de ani:

"I think we're growing a sort of prosthethic extended nervous system for the last hundred years or so.

I don't think it's possible to know what we've lost, i think there is a pervasive sense of loss and a pervasive excitement of what we seem to be gaining. and it seems those two feelings go together, in fact being parts of the same being.

what you couldn't have told me, at that stage of my life, and later i came to accept is that any drug amounts to its tweaking the incoming data. and you have to be really incredibly self-centered or pathetic to be satisfied with simply tweaking the incoming data.

i think of religions as as franchise operations, sort of like chicken franchisers - but that doesn't mean there's no chicken.
by the time you have it reduced to something you can talk about, you don't really have anything.

Internet, if one could see its totality, i think it would be a very profound expresion of what it is to be human today."
