and let's not forget:

- Ptolemy I is depicted recounting the story of Alexander in 283 B.C.; however, the Lighthouse at Alexandria - seen in the background - was not built until several years later, during the reign of his son Ptolemy II, around 270 B.C.
- in the battle at Gaugeamela, the Persian army are shown wearing dark clothes. In reality they were yellow and light purple.
- the world maps shown in the film show the coastlines as known after the medieval period. (e.g. the "boot" shape of Italy does not appear before 1500 AD)
- in several scenes the characters are wearing left/right sandals. Shoes were made on straight lasts until the 1800s.
