"LOTR's influence on street names and fictional stories
I was driving around my town the other day, bored out of my mind and just killing time. Well anyway, I had to drop my cousin of of at his house. Now, you're probably asking yourself, "What does this have to do with LOTR?" Well, my cousin lives in a community thats less than five years old. So when I'm driving around this semi-new development, I saw an area called Rivendell Court. OK..fine. Then, I see two more places called Lindon Ave and Mirkwood Ave. So I dropped him off and rode around in the country-side of this county and saw a spot called Lothlorien Lane. Then finally, I saw a Bree Road and a Buckland Place and then it hit me right then that these names were right out of LOTR.

In other fictional stories and movies, we see dwarfs/midgets, elves and wizards all the time. We all have read stories that are filled with imagery with offset lands and characters that are good and bad. What I'm wondering is that could LOTR be the "blueprint" for all other stories and films that came after it? Also, when land developers and whoever decided on a street name....did they name these roads and avenues after lands in LOTR intentionally or what? What do you all think? Do you think these street names and stories were all coincidences or did these people have LOTR in mind when nameing streets or when they were making up stories on their own."

"I live in Frederick, Maryland, USA. Some of those names were from around here, but some of the others are from towns and cities in and around the Washington Metropolitian Area. I was talking to a friend of mine who lives closer to D.C. then I do and he told me that there's a Shire Road near him. And these communties were built before the films came out....so they must have taken them from the books."
